MyEPO services, including MyEPO Portfolio
Making it easy for you to conduct your EPO business online
On behalf of the MyEPO services team, Kieran Donnelly from the EPO has shared the following information with us:
MyEPO Portfolio is now used by over 95% of companies that receive their Mailbox communications electronically from the EPO
MyEPO is a set of services that makes it easier for you – an intellectual property administrator – to conduct your EPO business online:
- Online Filing 2.0 has become the tool of choice for filing with the EPO. Most filings are submitted in Online Filing 2.0 these days.
- MyEPO Portfolio is the place for interacting with the EPO during proceedings. It replaces the legacy Mailbox and MyFiles services that will no longer be available from 1 July 2024.
- Central Fee Payment gives you all the options for paying fees and claiming refunds.
MyEPO Portfolio brings many improvements and new features and is really easy to use. In fact, more than 95% of companies that receive their Mailbox communications electronically from the EPO now do so via MyEPO Portfolio.
In European proceedings (EP, UP and Euro-PCT) you can use MyEPO Portfolio to access your digital files. It is now easy to make requests about applications, such as change or withdrawal of representation, changes to bibliographic data, withdrawal of applications, transfer of rights, and registration or cancellation of licences and other rights. You can also use MyEPO Portfolio to request a certified copy of documents related to an application or a granted patent, including unitary patents.
MyEPO Portfolio also allows you to reply to key EPO communications, such as the communication about intention to grant (Rule 71(3) EPC), a communication in examination (Article 94(3) EPC), the extended European search report (Rule 70a EPC), an invitation about subject-matter for search (Rules 62a and 63 EPC) and a communication under Rules 161(1) and 162 EPC.
In 2023, we introduced an exciting new “shared area”, which allows you to interact online with examiners during a live consultation. The MyEPO Portfolio shared area makes the examination process more collaborative and less sequential by allowing you to work together with examiners in real time when necessary.
Professional representatives, with the help of their IP support staff, can also use MyEPO Portfolio to manage their entry in the list of professional representatives before the EPO.
Your company administrator can also use MyEPO Portfolio to manage which users have access to your company Mailbox, application portfolios and have fee payment rights.
We will continue to introduce exciting new features in MyEPO Portfolio, inspired by feedback from our users. If you haven’t already done so, we warmly encourage you to start using MyEPO Portfolio for your daily dealings with the EPO.
